Getting ready for 2017 flower season. First stop the Newberg Camellia Festival on April 8th. Not the easiest to shoot as it's indoors and the lights are not over bright. Last year I had challenges with focusing-but i spent some time in the shop working with a bouquet-set up backdrops, playing with lighting and then I took my glasses of to look through the lens! What a difference-I could see exactly what I wanted to use as my focal point. Well. then I had to get some new glasses that didn't have separate nose pieces (which wouldn't grab my hair and wouldn't let go). I tested the new glasses out this last weekend while wandering around the valley, Red Ridge and down to McMinnville for lunch. The new glasses worked great-could push them up and pull back down with out snagging my hair, WooHoo! I was using a Nikon D3200 with a 18-300 zoom lens (Tokina) I hung a piece of cream fabric behind my bouquet. I played a lot with location of supplemental light sources. At first it was too bright so I placed a thin piece of fabric over the light to soften it. I ended up with some photos that please me and taught me so good lessons. Studio Flower Studies

Yes, weekends. I learned so much at the Seattle workshop that I turned around and signed up for another one in Eugene. It's great to live in NW Oregon. By adding the Eugene weekend I was able to take all the classes offered and do two critiques.
All told I was able to take Tony Rizzuto teaching: Camera Basics I & Il, Understanding Light, Compositon: Designing a Great Photo, photographing People Tim Cooper teaching: Workflow: Processing Images with Adobe(R) Lightroom, Understanding Exposure: Using the Zone System for Color, Introduction to Macro Photography, Shooting and Processing HDR and Panoramic Images and finally Landscape Photography Both teachers taught to get the best picture in camera so you use less post processing. I have all this knowledge and now need to apply it. Photo buddies anyone. I am building a page on this website that will link to my photo website: sldallas photography Sayonara Day two of the RMSP experience, wrapping up with critique of a selected image by each of us. I have learned so much about camera, lens, color, light, composition. I will be taking their second workshop weekend in Eugene this coming weekend. Stay tuned Sally Photo weekend starts tomorrow, but getting to Seattle, should I say leaving Portland, was challenging to say the least. I5 was snarled-205 wasn't but I don't have all the ways over memorized. So I used Waze. Danged if I could figure out why it wouldn't take freeways and always seemed to take the long way to anywhere. Finally, I started looking at settings (during red lights only) and I had the bloody thing set to NO FREEWAYS. Ergh! When traveling around town I prefer that, but I was a bit freaked out that it would send me some whacked out round about to the Hotel in SeaTac. When I started out I set it to go and it wanted me to go up the coast, then tried 99w. Finally turned it off-but the app also shows traffic, hazards and police. Finally got here, about 4.5 hours later. Most of the excess hours were spent exciting Portland. Tired, but excited for the weekend. |
