Glazing
(Glass, Plexi or something else?) African Mask framed using Tru-Vue Museum glass with UV Blocking and Anti-Reflective properties Artwork needs glazing ( except oils, some acrylics, tiles, etc.) Glazing is necessary on works of art printed on paper. Paper is very fragile and often the medium used to create the artwork is also fragile. Artworks on paper need to be protected from incidental splashes, touching, bugs and light (Ultra-violet or UV light). What is the effect of ultraviolet light on artwork? The energy in ultraviolet light is high enough to sever the organic bonds of paper-borne art leading to paper embrittlement and deterioration of artwork.
